2FA - Two Factor Authentication

2FA is an additional security measure to protect your SRWA Google account.  As well as your password, you will need either a physical key or a code to access your account.

All members of staff will need to use some form of 2FA for their Google accounts.  This will increase the overall security of our accounts, and is a requirement of the Woodard security policy.  Once setup it will be non-intrusive, and if you use the same device regularly you will rarely notice any difference.

Teaching staff will make use of a USB key in a classroom, so they do not need to worry about finding codes or using mobile devices during a lesson.  We recommend also setting up an alternative method as backup (Google Authenticator is recommended).

Non teaching staff can use their mobile phone to get a code.  This can either be through the Google Authenticator App (recommended), or a Mobile SMS code (A code sent to your phone via text message).

If you use a device regularly, you can choose to have Google remember the device when you login, so you do not have to use your key or get a code every time you use that device.

If you lose your key, please tell the IT support department, as we can remove the key from your account.
